So I Want to be a Moto-Vlogger…

Apparently, I do. Yes.

Since early childhood, I have wanted to write, to be an author. While I have written metric tons of content over these last many years, and while I’ve been published a time or two, I never quite took those important few steps to become a professional writer of any sort.

I also enjoy photography, travel, and adventure.

Oh – and motorcycles.

In fact, I moved here to Southern California almost 100% because I can ride my motorcycles year-round on some truly amazing roads and trails.

I’ve been riding since 1996, though until last year, it was all entirely street, and all pretty sedate. Since my arrival here, I’ve upped my riding game by a few orders of magnitude, bought three new bikes (only 2 remain,) and have started riding off-road. Learning to ride off-road, particularly when there’s a lot of sand about, is not easy on a 700-pound bike that’s juuuust a little bit too tall for me. Given my age and overall lack of strength, things are doubly-challenging.

My main ride is a 2016 BMW R1200GS Triple Black named Ember. She is the love of my life. Despite coming from a largely sportbike background, I have never been faster on any bike, ever. I cannot pick this bike up, however.

Two weeks ago, I traded in my seldom-ridden Yamaha FJ-09 (along with its negative equity) for a 2018 KTM Enduro R. It is tall. Fortunately, it’s also light enough for me to pick up without too much trouble, so I hope it will be easier to learn off-road skills with.

There’s going to be a whole lot of flailing and fumbling and falling over as I go through this journey, but I hope I can provide some entertainment to you all as I flounder.

Wow, I promise I don’t normally alliterate that much.

Stay tuned, watch this space, and so forth – and maybe wish me luck. 🙂
